Arboriculture Services

Arboriculture Services in Stirling & Central Scotland.

Healthy trees add value, shade and character to a property. Neglected ones can become a safety risk, a legal headache or an expensive surprise. Staleys Tree Solutions Ltd offers honest, practical arboricultural advice to homeowners, landlords, businesses and land managers across Stirling, Falkirk and Central Scotland.

Whether you're worried about a tree after a storm, planning building work near mature trees, or just want to know what's best for the oak at the bottom of the garden, we'll come out, take a proper look and tell you what's needed, and what isn't.

What is an arborist?

An arborist (or arboriculturist) is a specialist in the care and management of individual trees. Unlike general gardening, arboriculture looks at how a tree grows, what stresses it, how it's likely to behave in future, and how to keep it safe and healthy for as long as possible. Our advice is based on what the tree actually needs, not on selling you the biggest job.

Not sure whether your tree needs attention, or whether you need permission before work begins? Below are answers to the questions we hear most from homeowners, landlords and businesses across Stirling and Central Scotland. If yours isn’t covered, call us on 07599 00 88 09 and we’ll be happy to help.

How do I know if my tree is unhealthy or unsafe?

Warning signs include dead or brittle branches, thinning or discoloured leaves out of season, mushrooms or bracket fungi at the base, cracks, hollows, sudden leaning, and lifting soil around the roots. If you notice any of these, get it checked sooner rather than later.

Do I need permission to prune or remove a tree?

It depends. If your tree is protected by a TPO, or sits in a conservation area, you'll normally need consent from the local council before doing any work. Larger-scale felling may also need Scottish Forestry permission. Get in touch and we'll point you in the right direction before anything is cut.

How often should trees be inspected?

Mature trees near buildings, roads or public areas benefit from a regular check, and after any major storm. We can advise on a sensible schedule for your site.

Do you offer emergency call-outs?

Yes. For storm damage or dangerous trees, call us on 07599 00 88 09.

Super helpful. Great advice. More interested in helping us solve the problem, than making money from us. Really appreciated that and of course the advice which enabled us to remove a tree stump from a building. 3 other tree surgeons said it couldn’t be done!
